True Religion FW17 Collection Preview Party

Last week Milk Studios hosted the Fall/Winter 2017 collection preview party for iconic American brand, True Religion. Up in the loft, guests who included photographers, bloggers, magazine editors and influencers – including the brand’s newly selected ambassadors, Justine Skye and Black Atlas, mingled with the easy flow of open bar wine, beer and prosecco.

Images from the FW17 collection could be viewed on videos and slideshow played on the wall projector, as well as on the models that were walking throughout the event. What stuck out to me the most about the collection was how strikingly simple and comfortable the clothing and overall looks are. I took home a “whoa” sweatshirt from the new True Religion collection that though it’s a small, is at least two sizes too big on me and features stylishly ripped aspects by the color, lower right bottom and the back where the tag would usually be.

One of my favorite pieces from the collection is the subtly quilted and studded light green bomber jacket pictured below. Even though this is part of the men’s collection, this is definitely something that I would love to wear on a crisp fall day.

The color palette was pretty neutral – accented with beautiful leather sneakers. This is what should be expected of the women’s collection as well, except the accent is on comfort and a balance of loose and tight fitting pieces to create the chic casual look.

And of course, True Religion’s FW17 collection wouldn’t be complete without its iconic line of jeans. In this collection we saw faded blue jeans embellished with acid marks and patches, including a patch that says “RE-BELLE” – a sexy addition to the worthy cause of #nastywomen. The collection also expanded to include sweats and joggers – and being an athleisure addict, I am SO excited about this.

Lively Launches New ‘Busty Bralette’ For Women Who Need Extra Support

Finally! Today’s most popular bra trend is becoming more inclusive for those of us who need a little extra support. Sales for bralettes versus regular bras have been going up – by 120% if you’re looking to be exact, and it’s no surprise why. Wire-lined bra’s are uncomfortable. They make getting home from work feel amazing because the first thing you get to do is change into comfy clothes and a bralette, or simply go au natural. If you’ve been a bit more… shall we say, gifted in that area, you’ll know that lack of support is definitely something to be avoided.

Lively, the brand that launched last spring, figured out this gap in the market. What could busty girls wear instead of a bra when they wanted to relax but still be presentable enough to be seen in public (i.e. by the sushi delivery guy or other apartment mates)?

Their answer was this chic yet supportive bralette.

Launched on March 28th, Lively’s cleverly named “Busty Bralette” hit home with the ladies who needed a little bit more support. It is made for sizes D-DDD and according to the brand, “it features a soft liner with an inner supportive sling for a dose of magic in all the right places.”

As someone wearing this bralette as I’m typing right now (yes, we had that photo shoot earlier this morning) I can attest that this is finally one bralette where I won’t need to be constantly tightening the straps to give “the girls” a little lift.

It retails for a super affordable $35 and comes in two colors – the baby pink featured in the images above and the black featured in the image below. It has the signature Lively center detailing and includes a netted mesh on the inner part of the material. It’s super chic and super comfy, and can be paired with just about anything.

Seriously, I feel like this is enough support to wear to a yoga class (and if you’re used to doubling up on sports bras, the freedom is real.)

NYFW x Zang Toi Fall/Winter ’17 Collection

Malaysian designer Zang Toi is known for creating clothing that is sophisticated, elegant and timelessly beautiful. He has dressed celebrities including Elizabeth Taylor and Eva Longoria, philanthropist Melinda Gates, Saudi Princess Haifa Bandar Al Saud, and now FLOTUS Melania Trump.

Backstage before the show the energy was zinging. Photographers, reporters, models, hair stylists and makeup artists, publicists and Toi himself were frantically zig zagging throughout the crowded space in preparation for the Fall and Winter 2017 collection’s big reveal. With everyone rushing around there was little room for someone to stand still, without ruining the constant flow of the backstage crowd. The clock was ticking and the models had to rehearse one last time before they walked a runway surrounded by editors and influencers.

You will find a sign like the above at every single fashion show, located right near the entrance to the runway. A quickly scribbled yet legible sign that reminds the models to be confident and flow with the pace of that specific show. For professionals this may seem unnecessary, but I know from my experience walking in the BooHoo x College Fashion Week Fashion Show a few years ago that the adrenaline rush that hits you right before stepping out into the seriously hot skylights can make you forget everything you’d practiced before.

Toi’s “Brilliant Royal Blue” collection combined luxurious texture with empowering shape. It was professional and feminine, comfortable and chic. The overall look was achieved with the help of the gorgeous “French Twist Chignon,” created by lead stylist Eiji Yamane using products from Macadamia Professionals.

One of my favorite looks from the show was the dress below, which is actually a bit shorter in the front despite the accented train in the back. You can see it in motion in the video I posted on my Instagram feed!

The collection was highlighted with gorgeous statement accessories, like the pearl tassel necklace pictured below. The collection isn’t out yet (we have to be patient for a few more months!) but I’m linking to a kind of similar one… sans pearls unfortunately. Another jewelry look that I loved was a three level layered large pearl look with a collared blouse and velvet pants. So gorgeous.

Don’t forget to check out my NYFW Hair How-To so you can try out the style featured on the models above! x

10 Valentine’s Day Outfits That Will Make Your Closet Swoon

There are little reminders happening each day that show us the chilly month of February isn’t so bad after all. Think pink sunsets, beautiful floral bouquets, all the chocolate and heart decorations everywhere. February’s the month for celebrating *~love~* and whether you’re celebrating a romantic relationship, awesome friendships or just spoiling your perfectly wonderful self, the holiday means just as much.

In the past years I’ve celebrated Valentine’s Day in all of these ways! One year (granted, this was a while ago and my friends were willing to put up with my party rules) I invited a group of friends over and had them dress in ALL pink for a Galentine’s Day party. (Galentine’s Day has since evolved into a non-dress code, or preferably PJ’s, wine and cheese and dessert night). Another year (my freshman year of college) I got out of class at 2p.m. cracked open a bottle of Prosecco and the heart shaped box of chocolates I’d bought myself, and started celebrating. (My roommates had a good laugh when they walked in the room.) Two years ago Ben and I had started dating, and spent the day navigating Manhattan in a snow storm and eating steak. And last year, *tear tear* Ben and I were in Paris for Valentine’s Day. I know, it’s hard for me to be reminded of it too.

This year Valentine’s Day is on a Tuesday, (what’s up with that?!) Ben’s in class until 9pm and I’ll be attending some NYFW events in Manhattan, so I guess we’ll celebrate at night and maybe again on the weekend! Regardless of who you’re with or what you’re doing on the 14th, just take a moment to appreciate yourself and the special people in your life. ❤

Keep reading to see some of my favorite shoes, accessories, dresses and tops that that will be sure to get you in a lovey mood. x

Puma x DSW Vikky Platform Launch

You know it’s going to be a good day when new shoes are involved! I have been a fan of Puma for years – especially when I went through my tomboy phase in middle school (actually, let’s define phase here because now I’m an athleisure and yogi clothing junkie… maybe I’m just a fan of comfy workout clothes, okay??!). The shoes are sleek, classic and go with practically any outfit.

I love the outer suede detailing and the iconic “formstrip” on the sides of all their shoes. Puma is a brand I can genuinely put my trust in and know that I’m getting a top-notch quality product for my investment! This is 100% why I agreed to partner with them and attend the launch party for the brand new Puma shoe, the Vikky Platform featuring Soft Foam inserts.

The launch party was a great time. It was full of NYC-based bloggers that I look up to, PUMA reps and publicists and the founders and CEOs of Bloglovin’! I got to mingle, try on shoes (fav.) check out the photo booth and snack on these adorable cookies and yummy juices. But best of all, I left with my very own pair of Vikky Platforms in rich black suede with sleek and shiny formstrips and tongue. *Insert heart eyes emoji here.* I’m in love with these shoes, they are so comfy and look super stylish with just about any outfit!

I wore them to work today and tested them out during my lunch break – I walked over 50 blocks in these shoes and my feet don’t hurt at all. It’s amazing what a little support can do for you! Especially if you live in a city where you do a lot of walking, these shoes should definitely be on your radar.

The PUMA Vikky Platforms will be available for purchase suuuper soon at DSW. I’ll keep y’all updated on when they will officially launch to the public. (Definitely soon, so feel free to put them on your Christmas list… they’ll definitely be in my gift guide!)

Now for this weekend, I’ll be pairing them with this lovely bottle of LBD Rose’ and relaxing… because a girl needs to unravel at the end of a veryyyyy long week! x

Back To School Series: ’16-’17: Wrinkle Free Style + Dorm Essentials

With move-in day right around the corner, I’ve been getting my back-to-school shopping out of the way – including room decorations, cleaning supplies and my fall wardrobe. As I’m an upperclassman (how is it already senior year!?) I’m moving into an apartment in a few weeks, which makes my shopping list EXTRA long. Now in addition to bedroom and bathroom supplies I need things for my living room and kitchen… and enough of it all for my four roommates and myself! I’m sharing some of my favorite back to school essentials on here the next few weeks and I hope they’re helpful!

After three years of using the same hangers – and a wardrobe that’s been known to be so full it’s not uncommon for my hangers to break – it was time for a new collection. I’m sure by now many of you have seen the movie “JOY” featuring Jennifer Lawrence’s award-winning role. It came out last year and was inspired by inventor and entrepreneur, Joy Mangano. Mangano’s home goods collection is expanding this summer with her dorm essentials!

For my closet next year, I tried out Joy Mangano’s Huggable Hangers in purple, which come in a 6-pack of shirt hangers and a variety of different colors! The hangers are actually an incredible deal right now because they are on clearance for $3.95/6-pack and if you sign up for e-mails you get an additional 15% off your purchase. Although something that might be overlooked, hangers are an easy and practical way to help coordinate your dorm – making move in a bit less stressful! I’ve tried out these hangers and will definitely be bringing them to school with me in a few weeks. Not only are they one of my favorite colors, but they’re sure to keep my clothes from falling down amidst groggy mornings of getting dressed. It’s a small convenience like this that can go such a long way throughout the course of your day!

I’ve done a bit more exploring on the Joy Mangano website and fell in love with the “My Little Steamer” which is an awesome alternative to ironing. Especially right after unpacking my luggage on move-in day, I find that the majority of my clothes are so wrinkled that they aren’t wearable. This steamer is the perfect quick-fix to a wrinkled outfit and takes much less time to use than setting up an iron and ironing board. It is definitely going to be a go-to problem solver for me next year.

In the photos you guys can see some of my favorite fall clothing staples (happily hanging from the purple velvet Huggable Hangers). I was so excited when I found this nude and rose embroidered silk and sequined shirt from Zara. It’s been on my wish list for a while (waiting to be purchased in my online shopping cart for weeks) and I happened upon it in the store the other day – yay no shipping cost! I’ll be pairing it with dark jeans and leather booties… if only this heat wave would cool down! I’ll be putting up some more fall style posts soon. Are there any particular outfit styles you guys would like to see?

Let me know in the comments or via e-mail!

Joy Mangano “Huggable Hangers” (Retail for $3.95/6-pack); Joy Mangano “My Little Steamer” (Retails for $29.99); Silk and Sequined Shirt, Zara (Retails $19.99); Cocktails Silk Shirt, Zara ($49.99), Black and White Striped Off-the-Shoulder Shirt, Nordstrom ($21).

Be The Best Version of You #liveLIVELY

These past few months I’ve become way more active and appreciative of the wonderful natural activities (and food!) that the world has to offer. Even if it is just going for a quick walk in the park, working out in my my apartment or taking a pilates class I have put in a conscious effort to increase the physical activity in my life because I’ve realized that it is directly connected to me being the best and happiest version of myself. This being said, as most workout fanatics can relate to, it doesn’t take much to convince me to wear my workout clothes all day – to make sure that I get my workout in at night if my morning is too busy. This passion for being active has also been coupled with a heightened interest and understanding of fashion, which I gained through the Fashion and Philosophy classes I took while in London. My new dilemma became the need to find an active-inspired brand that was both comfortable and fashionable – this is where LIVELY stepped in.

When they first reached out to my about doing a partnership I was unsure of what their philosophy was. They claimed to be an athleisure brand that blurred the lines of lingerie, activewear and swim creating their own term “Leisuree.” After doing a bit of research I began to understand what the brand stood for and who it means to cater to, and I fell in love with it. LIVELY is a brand that is inspired by what makes women sexy – being smart, healthy, active and outgoing. It aspires to inspire and empower women to live life doing what they love, with the people they love. This is definitely something I can get behind.

The brand just launched a few months ago, but it already has awesome products on the market made from the highest quality materials. LIVELY owns its own factory and is able to control the entire process of making their garments, which ensures the quality of the pieces and good conditions of the workers. I love the Birds of Paradise T-Shirt Bra and the Geo-Lace Bralette which is perfect to wear with comfy loungewear or while doing yoga.

Being active makes my quality of life better because I am happier, healthier and more confident. Having a go-to outfit that makes me look great and feel comfortable in, both while working out and relaxing, is something that makes my day easier and contributes to my confidence. It is taking note of little details like this that will help you change your quality of life as well, and when you start to act on them, you will be on your way to being the best version of yourself you can be!

Root For Your Favorite NCAA Team With Jamberry!

Jamberry BBall

The 2016 NCAA Championships are coming to a close! Last night UNC beat Syracuse and Villanova crushed Oklahoma. Out of my bracket, I’ve only got UNC still standing – but hey, they could be the winners of the whole tournament which would be awesome for me! 😉

The March Madness tournament flew by for me this year as I am in London and there is virtually no way to watch the games. The British are super into football (aka soccer) and rugby and that’s about it when it comes to sports. I was able to watch the Superbowl back in February, but for some reason basketball has just not caught on here!

The bracket that I made predicted a Duke and UNC championship, and I’m just glad that I got half of that right! I’ll be rooting for UNC in the final March Madness game and even have the nail wraps to show my team spirit!

JamberJamberry came out with a huge (and adorable) new collection of university nail wraps this winter. Even though my actual university (Fordham) is not on the list (yet!!) I’m excited to wear these cute UNC nail wraps in the next few weeks. I love the zig zag and polka dot blue and white patterns and that Jamberry is getting creative with them beyond just a traditional school logo! The nail wraps will be on sale long after the championship game, so you can totally keep supporting your team (or school) all throughout the summer.

Classy & Comfy Collaboration With No Nonsense

I had such a relaxing Thanksgiving break, filled with family, friends, yummy food and really successful shopping trips and coming back to school was exactly as hard as I had imagined it would be. The first thing I did upon my arrival to campus was unpack and then head straight to the gym — no more stuffing for me! Then I caught up with friends I hadn’t seen for a week, as well as the homework I pretended I did not have while I was home. Slowly getting back into my routine, I knew that I would be losing sleep to get everything done on my to-do list. The next morning, there was nothing I wanted to do more than shut off my alarm and snuggle back into bed. Instead, I robotically got up, and rewarded myself by putting on one of my favorite pairs of leggings and the comfiest black fuzzy sweater. Ready to start my day, cup of black coffee in hand!

It is as if wearing leggings and a comfy sweater to class on Monday morning has become an unspoken yet expected uniform. Especially the Monday after a holiday weekend, the world seems to forgive you for throwing on the comfiest items in your closet. But sometimes it is creating a comfy yet put together look that helps you to tackle the week head on.

I love these olive green “Ponte Knit Pintuck” leggings from No Nonsense, because with the right styling, they can look incredibly put together while making you feel comfy throughout the day! I’ve also tried out the No Nonsense Zippered Cotton Leggings in Black and have found them to do the same. These leggings are great quality for a great price and have become wardrobe staples for me already.
